A Madison man is in custody after allegedly stealing a City of Madison Water Utility truck.
Police say the suspect drove the truck from Madison to McFarland on Wednesday before being spotted by officers.
When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, eventually crashing into a ditch near a roundabout on Highway 51 and Highway B.
After a brief foot chase, police arrested the suspect, who now faces charges including attempting to flee or elude officers, reckless endangerment, and operating a vehicle without consent.
