The new fishing license season in Wisconsin is now underway.
The Department of Natural Resources is reminding anglers that 2024-25 fishing licenses expired on Monday (March 31st).
This means that as of yesterday, April 1st, all residents and non-residents over the age of 16 must possess a valid 2025-26 general fishing license to fish in the state’s inland waters.
The annual resident license costs $20 per person, while a $31 spousal license is also available, allowing you and your spouse to fish together at a lesser cost.
Along with the beginning of the new fishing license year, the state’s new fishing regulations are now available and can be viewed by visiting dnr.wisconsin.gov.
General inland fishing season in Wisconsin officially begins on May 3rd, however, there are various locations for anglers to wet a line before the season begins.
Those looking to purchase a fishing license can do so at a DNR Service Center or online by visiting gowild.wi.gov.
